Deseronto Public Library Awarded Canada Summer Jobs Grant to Support Youth Employment

The Deseronto Public Library is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded the Canada Summer Jobs grant to fund a student position for 8 weeks in the summer of 2024. This grant will provide invaluable support for youth employment initiatives and enable the library to offer a meaningful summer job opportunity for a local student.

Canada Summer Jobs is a Government of Canada initiative that provides wage subsidies to employers to create employment opportunities for youth. The Deseronto Public Library successfully applied for the grant to fund a student position as the Arts & Recreation Leader: Summer Programs for the duration of 8 weeks during the summer months.

"We are delighted to receive the Canada Summer Jobs grant," said Julie Lane. CEO of the Deseronto Public Library. "This funding will allow us to hire a motivated and enthusiastic student to assist with our summer programs and services, further enhancing our ability to serve the community."

The selected student will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a dynamic library environment while contributing to the delivery of essential library programs and services. Responsibilities will include assisting patrons, organizing library materials, and supporting the planning and implementation of summer reading programs and activities.

The Deseronto Public Library extends its gratitude to the Government of Canada for its support through the Canada Summer Jobs program and looks forward to welcoming a talented student to its team for the summer of 2024.
