What's Happening this Fall
Fall Leaf Pick-Up
The annual Fall Leaf Clean-Up will take place November 12th-21st. Leaves are to be raked to the edge of the Municipal roadway. Do not include branches or tree limbs with the leaves, as they will not be collected. Do not place leaves in boxes or bags.
Leaves must be raked to the curb no later than November 11th.
Public Skating
The Town of Deseronto is pleased to provide public skating at the Arena. It is offered free of charge twice a week. Follow the online calendar for any tournament or holiday schedule adjustments.

Santa Claus Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony
Mark your calendars! The Santa Claus Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony is Saturday, November 30th, 2019.
Start time will be 4:30 pm. The Tree Lighting follows the parade and takes place in Rathbun Park.
If you are interested in registering a float, band or group we would like to hear from you.
Please complete the float application.
We are looking forward to a great fun filled family event!
Snow removal and winter parking
The Town of Deseronto reminds residents that no person shall on any Highway Park any Vehicle between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 0800 a.m. from December 1st to March 31st of the following year.

North sidewalk Dundas St. between Mill and St. George Sts. CLOSED
The North side of Dundas sidewalk between Mill St. and St. George St. is closed for construction.
The sidewalk on the north side of Dundas St. between Mill St. and George St. is closed for construction. It will be closed for about a week while construction is completed. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
2019 Flu Clinics
The Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit has announced dates and locations for the 2019 flu vaccine.
Protect yourself and your loved ones.
The influenza vaccine is available at no cost and a series of clinics where residents can receive the flu shot have been planned by the Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit.

Christmas Sharing and Angel Tree Interviews
The Town of Deseronto and the Tyendinaga Township announce interview times for the Christmas Sharing and Angel Tree programs.

Making our Streets Safer
The Town of Deseronto continues to make our streets safer for all residents.
As part of Council’s strategy and commitment to make our streets safer and improve mobility within our Community for all, the Town of Deseronto will be identifying and marking pedestrian walkways from road ways as we strive to improve in this area.
Additionally, bylaw enforcement will begin actively warning and enforcing parking restrictions on designated/identified Municipal walking areas moving forward.

High Water Survey
International Joint Commission Survey for High Water Impacts on Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte.
Quinte Conservation encourages those who experienced high water on Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte in 2019 to fill out the survey from the International Lake Ontario - St. Lawrence River Board.
The data collected from this year's survey will allow the Commission to evaluate and improve their scientific and engineering models that were developed to help estimate potential damages and impacts to plan modifications that may be experienced under a range of Great Lakes water level conditions.
College St. Closed until 6 pm September 5th, 2019.
The final topcoat of asphalt has been applied to College St. Public Works and Gordon Barr Construction request that residents do not use College St. until 6 pm. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Community Centre Facility Student Attendants
The Town of Deseronto is currently seeking students to assist in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Deseronto Community Centre.
The students will assist with moving of the nets and other janitorial and maintenance tasks. The position is for approximately 10 hours assisting in the completion of the general maintenance of the arena, parks and other facility grounds as required. The successful candidates will be involved in a diverse range of job activities which include performing maintenance tasks, event/rental program set up and take down, and customer service. In addition, the applicant must be prepared to work on a rotating shift schedule that includes evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.Please see the job posting for more details.
Crosswalk Installation Completed.
Public Works staff have completed the installation of the new crosswalk at Main and Centre. Council is pleased to be able to provide this improvement with the help of the Province through a Main Street Revitalization Grant. As part of a larger commitment to accessibility, revitalization and safety. This project features:
Light green day glow advisory signs for the crosswalk, 25 meters ahead of the crosswalk as a warning to drivers and cyclists.
Foot sense pads have been embedded in the sidewalk as a tell for those with visual or hearing issues to improve accessibility .
A push button on each side of the crosswalk that activates the two white crosswalk signs to light up, as this will alert oncoming traffic.
Council and staff have been working collaboratively with the OPP to implement various traffic calming measures and safety features in and around Town. Council has made safety one of their key priorities and will continue to work towards finding the right coverage for our Community.

Deseronto Bulldogs Senior "A" Hockey
The Town of Deseronto announces Senior ‘A” Bulldog hockey is happening this season at the Deseronto Community Recreation Centre.
Join us for the home opener Saturday September 28th, and follow the team through all 18 home and away games.
The puck drops at 6:30 pm for all home games. Team Schedule

The Good Food Bank offers up a variety of fruits and vegetables at whole sale prices, which is a great way to purchase nutritious food at a fraction of the cost.

Notice of Water Service Interruption - July 31, 2019
Please be advised that a temporary interruption to water service affecting residents on College Street between Thomas and Dundas Streets and on Thomas Street between College and Brant Streets is scheduled for Wednesday July 31, 2019. The duration of the interruption is expected to be approximately 4 hours and is planned to start at 7:00am.
Our Beautiful Parks - Highlight - The Rathbun Park
The Town of Deseronto encourages residents and visitors alike to get out during the great summer weather and enjoy our parks. Today we are highlighting The Rathbun Park beside Town Hall. The park is full of flowers and trimmed gardens and looks great thanks to the public works department. With its gurgling fountain and gazebo, The Rathbun Park will make any photo one you'll cherish forever!
Advisory: The fountain has an electrical component and is not safe for children or pets to swim in so please refrain from using it this way.

The Transit Coordinator position is responsible for providing dispatch, administrative, payroll and financial support for the Town of Deseronto’s Transit Department. This position also provides a next point of escalation for front line staff as well as training on administrative functions for drivers.
