Hearts for Healthcare Workers - The Town of Deseronto encourages you to Show Your Support!

To our residents: The Town of Deseronto is pleased to be taking part in the Hearts for Healthcare initiative, which recognizes and shows appreciation to the frontline healthcare workers during the pandemic. We are encouraging residents to hang a heart in their front windows, doors, or yards in support.

As our Warden Rick Phillips states: "Throughout this crisis, we have been witness to the extraordinary efforts of our healthcare workers as they battled against COVID-19," says Warden Rick Phillips, Hastings County.  "Hastings County Council has marveled at the strength, dedication and personal sacrifice people have shown daily. We owe them a debt that cannot be repaid and whether they work in our long-term care homes, paramedic services, hospitals, doctors' offices or cared for us in our homes they deserve to be recognized for the true heroes they are," stated Phillips.

Town Hall Reopening - The Municipal Office is open to the public effective February 10, 2021.  Protocols are in place to maintain physical distancing, please be patient and follow procedures. We can only accommodate 2 patrons in the entrance at a time.

Meetings with specific staff members are by appointment only, please call ahead. 613-396-2440.

Bag Tags— Bag tags will be required on all garbage effective February 19, 2021.

Deseronto Food Bank- The Food Bank located at 312 Edmon St. will be open on February 18, 2021.

When the provincewide shutdown was announced in January, the government committed to safely and gradually return to the COVID-19 response framework (colour-coded zones).

Regions are now being phased back into the framework based on improvements in:

  • COVID-19 transmission

  • health system capacity

  • public health system capacity

  • local context and conditions

  • testing capacity

  • Limits for certain organized public events and social gatherings such as functions, parties, dinners, gatherings, barbeques or wedding receptions held in private residences, backyards, or parks, where physical distancing can be maintained:

    • 10 people indoors

    • 25 people outdoors

  • Limits for organized public events and gatherings in staffed businesses and facilities, where physical distancing can be maintained:

    • 50 people indoors

    • 100 people outdoors

  • Limits for religious services rites or ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral services, where physical distancing can be maintained (applies in any venue other than a private dwelling):

    • 30% capacity of the room indoors

    • 100 people outdoors

Restaurants, bars and other food and drink establishments

  • Require patrons to be seated; 2 metres minimum or impermeable barrier required between tables

  • No buffet style service

  • Line-ups and patrons congregating outside venues managed by venue; 2 metres distance and face-covering required

  • Face coverings required except when eating or drinking only

  • Patron screening (passive)

  • Require contact information for one patron per seated party

  • Dancing, singing and performing music is permitted, with restrictions

  • Karaoke permitted, with restrictions (including no private rooms)

  • Personal protective equipment, including eye protection, required when a worker must come within 2 metres of another person who is not wearing a face covering

  • Night clubs only permitted to operate a restaurant or bar

  • A safety plan is required to be prepared and made available upon request

Sports and recreational fitness facilities

  • Maintain 2 metres physical distancing, unless engaged in a sport

  • Capacity limits per venue, where physical distancing can be maintained:

    • 50 people indoors or 100 people outdoors in classes

    • 50 people indoors in an area with weights or exercise equipment

    • 50 spectators indoors or 100 outdoors

  • Capacity limits apply on a per-room basis if operating in compliance with a plan approved by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (Guidance for Facilities for Sport and Recreational Fitness Activities During COVID-19covid 19)

  • Team or individual sports must be modified to avoid physical contact; 50 people per league

  • Exemptions for high-performance athletes and parasports

  • The limit volume of music to be low enough that a normal conversation is possible; measures to prevent shouting by both instructors and members of the public

  • Face coverings required except when exercising or playing sports

  • Patron screening (passive)

  • A safety plan is required to be prepared and made available upon request

Meeting and event spaces

  • Capacity limits per venue, where physical distancing can be maintained:

    • 50 people indoors or

    • 100 people outdoors

  • Booking multiple rooms for the same event not permitted

  • Maximum of 50 people per room indoors if the venue operates in accordance with the approved plan from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (Guidance for Meeting and Event Facilities During COVID-19covid 19)

  • Limits for religious services rites or ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral services apply if held in meeting and event spaces:

    • 30% capacity of the room indoors

    • 100 people outdoors

  • Exceptions for court and government services

  • Patron screening (passive)

  • A safety plan is required to be prepared and made available upon request

Retail

New for Green-Prevent as of February 2021:

  • Stores must have passive screening for patrons (for example, posting signs outside the storefront about not entering if you have COVID-19covid 19 symptoms)

  • Fitting rooms must be limited to non-adjacent stalls

  • Line-ups and patrons congregating outside venues managed by venue; 2 metres distance and face-covering required

Personal care services

  • Oxygen bars, steam rooms and saunas closed

Casinos, bingo halls and gaming establishments

  • Maximum of 50 people per facility permitted, where physical distancing can be maintained

  • Table games are prohibited

Cinemas

  • Capacity limits per venue, where physical distancing can be maintained:

    • 50 people indoors or

    • 100 outdoors

  • 50 people per indoor auditorium if cinema operates in accordance with the approved plan from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (Guidance for Movie Theatres During COVID-19covid 19)

  • Face coverings except when eating or drinking only

  • Drive-in cinemas permitted to operate, subject to restrictions

  • Patron screening (passive)

  • A safety plan is required to be prepared and made available upon request

Performing arts facilities

  • Capacity limits per venue, where physical distancing can be maintained:

    • 50 people indoors or

    • 100 outdoors

  • Singers and players of wind or brass instruments must be separated from spectators by plexiglass or some other impermeable barrier

  • Rehearsal or performing a recorded or broadcasted event permitted

  • Performers and employees must maintain 2 metres physical distance except for purposes of the performance

Ontario Extends State of Emergency to February 9, 2021.

Effective January 25, 2021.

Ontario has officially extended the province's state of emergency and all orders associated with it, including the stay-at-home order, for an additional 14 days.

The state of emergency, that was declared under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) on Jan. 12, and the stay-at-home order will expire on Feb. 9, the government said.
