SPRING BRUSH AND LEAF CURBSIDE PICK-UP MONDAY MAY 8th – THURSDAY MAY 11th

The Public Works Department will be performing a curbside spring clean-up of leaves and brush, starting Monday May 8th , 2023 until Thursday May 11th , 2023.

All material must be placed to the curbside no later than Sunday May 7, 2023, as the Town staff will only be collecting in each area once.

This is for brush and leaves ONLY; no other materials will be picked up.

Please note that this service is intended for general yard waste clean-up only and does not apply to tree removal.

Leaves are to be placed in paper bags only.

Limbs and brush are to be bundled no longer than 5 feet in length and no more than 3 feet high and placed parallel to the curb.

Limbs larger than 6 inches in diameter will NOT be collected. Material that is outside of the general service area will NOT be picked up.

A large item drop off and BBQ will be held on Saturday May 27 th , 2023 (8 am – 2 pm).

Mark your Calendars for a Day of Shopping and Fun!

Yard & business sidewalk/yard sales throughout Deseronto all happening on the same day!

New This Year — Free-Cycle

If you do not want to have a yard sale, but want to get rid of some items—put the items out to the street with a “Free” sign on them.

If they are not picked up by 3:00 pm, that day, you must take your items off of the street and dispose of them another way.

The Town will advertise the event in the Napanee Beaver and on our website and Facebook page.

If you would like to have a yard sale/free-cycle event, simply put the items out the day of the event. There is no need to register your sale with the Town Hall.

The Town of Deseronto is currently seeking three (3) summer students to work in various departments throughout the Town.

Students must be 16 years of age or older and have registered to return to school in the fall.

The successful candidates will be involved in a diverse range of job activities within the Administration or Parks & Recreation Departments

Spring has Sprung at the Deseronto Public Library

Library implements new operating hours and special events for April.

Spring of 2023 brings many new and exciting programs to the Deseronto Public Library, as well as some welcome and refreshing changes. Today we are thrilled to announce that through community consultation over the last several months, the Deseronto Public Library will be implementing new hours of operation to better serve community needs. The as of April 11th, 2023, the Deseronto Public Library will be open six days a week with the following schedule:

Mondays: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Tuesdays: 10:00am – 8:00pm

Wednesdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Thursdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Fridays: 4:00pm - 7:00pm

Saturdays: 10:00am – 2:00pm

Adding an additional evening enables those who work during the day to have an extra opportunity to use the library resources and participate in scheduled programming, instead of being limited to the single evening on Tuesdays.

Notice of Complete Application and Public Meeting

TAKE NOTICEthat the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Deseronto has received a complete application for an amendment to the Town of Deseronto Comprehensive Zoning By-law 13-93 and is notifying the public in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended. 

AND TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Deseronto will hold a public meeting on the 12th day of April 2023 at 6:30 pm at the Deseronto Town Hall located at 331 Main St. Deseronto, Ontario. This Public Meeting will consider an application to amend the Town of Deseronto's Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. 13-93 and is being held in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, chap. P.13.

Location of Subject Lands

The requested zoning amendment applies to Part of Block “P”, Registered Plan No. 162, Town of Deseronto, County of Hastings or Part of Lot 37, Concession A, geographic Township of Tyendinaga, Town of Deseronto, County of Hastings.

Purpose and Effect of the Proposed Amending By-law

The requested zoning amendment will, if put into force and effect, serve the following purpose:

To rezone the property from the existing Residential Type Three- Holding (R3-h) Zone to the Residential Type Three Exception (R3-XX) Zone in order to recognize the deficiencies in the lot area, lot coverage, lot frontage, and setbacks associated with lots within a proposed plan of subdivision.

Representation

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Council of the Town of Deseronto to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town of Deseronto before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town of Deseronto before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.

If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Town of Deseronto on the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment, you must make a written request to the person at the address or email address provided below.
