North Street Water Main Service - January 8, 2024

North Street Water Main Service

Please be advised that the expansion of the water main being installed on North Street in the Town of Deseronto is nearing completion and the contractor and Operating Authority are preparing to begin the activation process of the new service mains.

On January 8, 2024, the commissioning of the new water main will commence. This process will consist of filling the main with chlorinated water while utilizing backflow prevention measures in case of complications (leakage etc.) followed by performance monitoring for a 24-hour period by Ontario Clean Water Agency.

Following that 24-hour monitoring period, the service main will be filled and flushed two additional times to ensure that there are no leaks or concerns with the service main and monitored for an additional (7) seven days. Without any complications during that week, the service main will be eligible to be put in service. During the 24-hour period and the weeklong monitoring period, there should not be any impact on water quality or quantity to the neighbouring properties.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this notice or the process as planned, please call the Town Hall at 613-396-2440.
