New Municipal Infrastructure Announcement

The Town of Deseronto is pleased to announce that we were able to secure significant government funding to assist with the construction of a new Public Works building. This additional building will assist in streamlining our municipal offerings and will improve on service delivery. The new building will be located at the north west corner, within the fenced area at the water and wastewater facility on Water Street.

The Public Works and Water and Wastewater Departments work collaboratively on many projects within our community and this move will help to provide further options to find shared improvements and efficiencies while offering consolidation of our outside services.

Construction has begun with full project completion expected by early 2020.

Council and staff will continue to review and plan for the best use of the existing site while we transition to the new facility throughout the new year.

For further details or if you have any questions, please call Town Hall at 613-396-2440.

Public Works staff have completed the installation of the new crosswalk at Main and Centre. Council is pleased to be able to provide this improvement with the help of the Province through a Main Street Revitalization Grant.  As part of a larger commitment to accessibility, revitalization and safety. This project features:

  • Light green day glow advisory signs for the crosswalk, 25 meters ahead of the crosswalk as a warning to drivers and cyclists.

  • Foot sense pads have been embedded in the sidewalk as a tell for those with visual or hearing issues to improve accessibility .

  • A push button on each side of the crosswalk that activates the two white crosswalk signs to light up, as this will alert oncoming traffic.

Council and staff have been working collaboratively with the OPP to implement various traffic calming measures and safety features in and around Town. Council has made safety one of their key priorities and will continue to work towards finding the right coverage for our Community.
