Waste Connections of Canada provides waste/recycling collection services for the Town of Deseronto. The Garbage/Recycling curbside pick-up is Fridays.
The Town reminds residents that all recycling and waste must out at the curb by 7:00 am to ensure pick up.
Waste must be tagged in bags or cans for pick-up. One full tag must be visible for pick up of each bag or can. Bag tags can be purchased at the Town Hall or various other participating locations in Town.
Recycling items must be in a recycling container, with either paper products; or cans and plastic as per the schedule for pick up.

The Town is reviewing options for an alternative water and sewer service billing rate structure. The alternative structure promotes equity, conservation, and is better aligned and remains competitive with area municipalities. The proposed new structure is intended to address customer concerns with the existing structure.

The Town of Deseronto was pleased to accept a grant for improvements to the Community Recreation Centre from the Frank Cowan Company Community ‘Home Town’ Improvement Program. Based on information provided by McDougall Insurance of Deseronto, Town staff applied for funds to improve operations at the Deseronto Community Recreation Centre (DCRC).
The Frank Cowan Company is Canada’s largest underwriter and broker for municipal insurance in Canada and the ‘Home Town’ program provides financial support to municipal-related community focused, grassroots initiatives across Canada that help to improve the safety and quality of life. The Frank Cowan Company does this in collaboration with our business partners, such as McDougall Insurance and The Cowan Foundation.

The Town of Deseronto is currently seeking a qualified individual to assist with the operation and maintenance of the municipal water and wastewater facilities (WT-3, WD-1, WWT-3, WWC-2). Duties include, but are not limited to, treatment process monitoring and control, sample collection, routine laboratory analyses, equipment maintenance, distribution and collection systems maintenance, water meter reading and repair, and building and grounds maintenance.
The position is 40 hours per week and requires participation in the on-call rotation (30 min. response) and weekend duty (every third week).
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
· Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related technological or scientific discipline
· Operator certification for water and wastewater facilities
· Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal legislation and guidelines
· Mechanically inclined with ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical defects
· Understanding of applicable health and safety regulations and standard practices
· Proficiency in standard software packages such as Microsoft Office applications
· Certification in an applicable recognized trade is considered an asset

The Town of Deseronto is currently accepting applications for a Transit Driver - Casual, On-Call. The transit driver is responsible to ensure that the Deseronto Transit vehicles are operated in a safe and efficient manner and to ensure a positive experience by the riders.

Quinte Conservation encourages those who experienced high water on Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte in 2019 to fill out the survey from the International Lake Ontario - St. Lawrence River Board.
The data collected from this year's survey will allow the Commission to evaluate and improve their scientific and engineering models that were developed to help estimate potential damages and impacts to plan modifications that may be experienced under a range of Great Lakes water level conditions.

The Town of Deseronto is currently seeking students to assist in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Deseronto Community Centre.
The students will assist with moving of the nets and other janitorial and maintenance tasks. The position is for approximately 10 hours assisting in the completion of the general maintenance of the arena, parks and other facility grounds as required. The successful candidates will be involved in a diverse range of job activities which include performing maintenance tasks, event/rental program set up and take down, and customer service. In addition, the applicant must be prepared to work on a rotating shift schedule that includes evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.Please see the job posting for more details.
